Trust: Psalm 40:4 I really like this verse in the bible because it is very clear and relates to many of our current situations today. As a student-athlete, it can be very difficult for me to always put God on top. I always have assignments I need to complete and film I might need to watch. Sometimes I let that take over, and then there is almost no room for God.Part of what Psalm 40:4 tells us, is that the one who turns away from idols is blessed. It reads… Psalm 40:4 New International Version (NIV) 4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. I’m sure many of us have idols in our lives. Whether it be work, school, watching TV, or even relationships, we all have things that we like or need to invest in. These things are okay, but we cannot let them be above God. All of these idols are nothing compared to God. Idols are temporary, while God is eternal. Like idols, we also need to be careful about those who are too prideful. They can lead us down a deceiving path that we ultimately do not want. We need to trust and lean on God because he is our source. I pray this lesson motivates you like it motivated me to always trust in the Lord and to not be blinded by idols and those who trust in only themselves.
